Rajkotupdates-news: Sundar Pichai said that there is a plan to add AI features to Google search: Report

Sundar Pichai said that new AI features will increase the search engine's ability to answer questions.

Tech giant Google is planning to add Artificial Intelligence (AI) features to its search engine. Open AI's chatbots fight against fierce competition from ChatGPT, meanwhile it is expected that Google will add AI features to its search engine.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Google Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sundar Pichai said that new AI features will enhance the search engine's ability to answer questions. He rejected the idea that chatbots are a threat to Google's search business. The search business accounts for more than half of its parent Alphabet's revenue. Search ads are the biggest earner for the company, which brought in $162 billion in revenue last year.

A pioneer in developing the Large Language Model (LLM), Google is yet to develop the technology to influence search patterns. Sundar Pichai said that people will be able to ask questions and engage with this larger model of the language. Rival Microsoft has used this technology behind the ChatGPT system in its Bing search engine.

This is one of the toughest risks for Google under Sundar Pichai as it faces pressure from investors to cut costs. In January, Google fired 12,000 jobs, the largest ever. Sundar Pichai said that Google is yet to achieve the goal of being 20 percent more productive.

According to a latest report, Google is also testing new AI features in Gmail. On the other hand, Microsoft is offering AI in some of its other business software tools. The Mountain View-based technology behemoth is wary of the technology as researchers have expressed concerns about the accuracy of AI-powered chatbots. Sundar Pichai said that AI needs to optimize its use of resources to continue its work while managing costs.

According to the WSJ report, Google is aiming to win a wider business. Last month, it opened access to its largest AI system, the Pathways Language Model, to developers on its cloud-computing service.
