Mumbai Police has detained a 16-year-old boy from neighboring Thane district for calling the police control room and allegedly threatening to kill Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
The Mumbai Police had last month increased the security of Salman Khan after he received threatening e-mails, due to which the police had earlier registered an FIR against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar.
Mumbai Police has detained a 16-year-old boy from neighboring Thane district for calling up the police control room and allegedly threatening to kill Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, an official said on Tuesday.
The main control room of Mumbai Police had received a call on Monday.
The police then started an investigation and with technical help tracked down the number from which the call was received at Shahpur in Thane district, 70 km from Mumbai, the official said.
A police team went to Shahpur where they found that a 16-year-old boy had made a threatening phone call, he said.
Ghokra of Rajasthan was detained. He will be handed over to Mumbai's Azad Maidan police for further legal process, the official said.
An investigation is on to know the intentions of the youth behind threatening the 57-year-old actor, he said.

The 'Dabangg' actor was earlier provided Y-plus category security by the police and used to move around in a bullet-proof car with his personal security guards.
Last month, the Bandra police here registered an FIR against three persons – gangsters Bishnoi, Brar and one Rohit – for allegedly sending threatening e-mails to Salman Khan's office.
Bishnoi and Goldie Brar, currently in jail in Punjab, are accused of killing singer Sidhu Moojwala.
It is noteworthy that in June 2022, an unknown person threatened Salman Khan through a handwritten note.
